En route to taking his seat in the Petronas Mercedes F1 team, Kimi Antonelli swung by to meet the guys for a little pit lane chat and the odd autograph. You can see him signing a couple of tyres for Nelson and Akille in the video.
The boys are feeling their way around Lonato, still in their own UK-spec karts. Savvy Racing’s fluorescent livery is easy to pick out from other team liveries, not least because Nelson and Akille are now moving to the front of the pack, posting some of the quickest times of Day #2. Nelson is right there with the fastest and most experienced at Lonato. For a first-timer, people have sat up and taken notice.
Day #3 and #4 will be the real test: it’s the hot seat in the EKS Factory ‘works’ karts. Nelson and Akille have both shown everyone why they deserve to be here. Win, lose or draw, it’s been a wonderful experience so far for the entire Savvy Racing team. It will be long remembered. But we have further work to do and the factory karts to step up to.
